Family policies
What families ask before a first class.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
Watching class and recitals
Parents and family are welcome to watch any class from the bench by the viewing window. Please stay seated and quiet during belt tests, and turn flash off. For the youngest group, we ask that a parent stay in the building.
What to wear and bring
A plain t-shirt and loose pants are fine for the first class, and we have uniforms to borrow for that visit. No jewelry, hair tied back, nails short and shoes off at the mat. We tell you at joining how to get a uniform of your own.
When to keep your child home
If a student has a fever, a stomach bug or anything that spreads, please keep them home and send us a message. You don't need to give us the details.
Drop-off and pickup
Children stay in the dojo until a parent or an adult named on the enrollment page comes in for them. We keep a sign-in sheet at the front desk and check who is collecting.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the main holidays and, rarely, for snow. Closures are posted on the booking page and we text families the same morning.
Leaving the program
Enrollment runs month to month. To stop, tell us in writing at least 30 days ahead; the month in progress is billed as usual. The tuition page says more, and you can ask us how to pause.
Screens and phones
Phones stay on silent and in a bag during class. Please ask the instructor before filming, and we ask families not to post pictures of other people's children.
