Questions
What families ask first
How old does a student have to be?
Students can join from age 4. There is a group for ages 4 to 6, one for ages 7 to 12, a teen class and adult classes.
Can I watch a class?
Yes. Parents and family can watch any class from the bench by the viewing window. For belt tests, please stay quiet and keep the flash off.
What do we wear to the first class?
A plain t-shirt and loose pants. We have uniforms to borrow for that visit. No jewelry, hair tied back and shoes off at the mat.
What is a class like?
Students line up by belt color, bow in and warm up, then practice stances, blocks, kicks and forms. Partner drills are on pads, and class ends with a bow out.
Can adults and children train together?
Adult classes are separate from kids' classes, and the Saturday class is shared by teens and adults. Parents are welcome to join an adult class.
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
No. Every class starts with a warm-up, and each student moves at their own pace.
How do belts work?
A student tests for the next belt when the instructor sees the skills. The belts page lists what each color works on.
How does tuition work, and how do I stop?
The tuition page explains what sets it, how billing works and the notice we ask for. Enrollment runs month to month, and we ask for written notice 30 days ahead.
What happens if we miss a class?
A missed class can be made up in another class for the same age group and belt level in the same session. Tell the front desk ahead.
Do students have to compete?
No. Tournaments are optional. If a student wants to go, we help them find one.
Still have a question?
Call the front desk or send a message, and we'll get back to you.
